The Swine Flu Pandemic – ObamaCare’s First Trial
The Swine Flu is a significant public health problem, and lots of folks want to get vaccinated. Many have waited hours in line only to be turned away because there wasn’t enough vaccine. The shortage is so acute that even people in high risk groups are denied the vaccine! Unless you are a very young child, or a child with certain conditions, or the caretaker for same, it is illegal for you to be given the vaccine.
How did we get to this sorry pass?
- The FDA refused to approve vaccines made with adjuvants, which allows the use of much less virus. These are readily available in Europe.
- The FDA refused to approve vaccines grown in cell culture rather than the old fashioned chicken egg approach. Again, no problem in Europe.
- The FDA refused to approve vaccine that required multiple shots. Try Europe for your shots.
- Late in the game, the Obama Administration suddenly federalized the distribution of the vaccine, throwing existing distribution arrangements into disarray.
By the way, our regulatory and legal system have driven most vaccine manufacturing overseas. All US swine flu vaccine is manufactured in Europe. Were this flu more deadly, or if it becomes so shortly, those countries might decide to ship no vaccine to us.
What this shows is that unique American features cause our government to be even less competent than socialized European medical systems.
Just wait until we put the U.S. government in charge of all of our health care.
