While there is much to recommend about tribal peoples, and they certainly didn&#039;t have the destructive capacity of civilized societies, in many ways it is true that primitive life was &quot;nasty, brutish, and short.&quot; Contrary to the beliefs of most romantic pacifists, your chances were much greater of dying a violent death, and as much as shamans might have known about healing herbs, etc., modern medicine has greatly extended our life spans. It is truly amazing that one can consider oneself to be a progressive, and yet still want to regress back to a primitive, communist lifestyle!</description>
